Saut d’Acomat

On the Leeward Coast in Pointe-Noire, the Saut d’Acomat is a 10-metre waterfall dropping into a large forest pool: a short, free walk, about an hour’s drive from Basse-Terre along the Caribbean Sea.
Access and swimming
A narrow road from Pointe-Noire leads to the trailhead; roadside parking fills up fast. 15–20 minutes down a steep, rooty path with ropes at the end. Swim in the main pool or calmer pools downstream. Jumping and diving from the falls are forbidden.
Rivers on Basse-Terre can rise very fast: do not go after heavy rain or if a storm is forecast, and leave the riverbed immediately if the water turns murky or leaves and branches start coming down. Swimming may also be temporarily banned (floods, water quality): follow the signs on site.
