Getting to Basse-Terre

Most travellers arrive at Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes airport in Les Abymes, near Pointe-à-Pitre. Basse-Terre lies on the south-west side of Basse-Terre island: here is how to plan your journey.
Renting a car
The simplest and most flexible option: rental companies are at the airport. A car will be useful throughout your stay to reach La Soufrière, waterfalls and beaches.
The drive
Allow around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic, more at rush hour around Pointe-à-Pitre. The usual route follows the windward coast via Capesterre-Belle-Eau and Trois-Rivières. The Leeward Coast road is longer but beautiful.
Arriving at Les Terrasses du Fort
The residence is in the centre of Basse-Terre. After booking, you receive the exact address, access details and arrival information. Let us know if your flight lands late.
Getting to Les Saintes
Ferries to Terre-de-Haut leave from Trois-Rivières, about twenty minutes from Basse-Terre: perfect for a day trip.
